Javier Medina belongs to the last generation of a family devoted to the music. There is no doubt that this dj carries the music in his genes. From a very young age he started creating music with his “Casio tone”, and started showing interest to the 80’s Acid House. When he was a teenager, he used to attend parties in his hometown Sitges (Barcelona, Spain) where well-known dj’s like David Tort and David Gausa used to spin, and where he contemplated starting the deejay profession.
When he was just 17 years old he went from the dance floor to the Sitges’ dj booths, to start his deejay career. During this first years the musical influences of Front 242, Lil’ Louis, Herbie Hancock, Steve Lawler, Danny Tenaglia or Richie Hawtin stood out.
After a short while, his talent behind the desks took him to the best venues in Barcelona, like Roxy Colosseum, Zoo Klub, Becool, Club4 or Sweet Café, among others. And it didn’t take him too long to get to the international scene, where he mixed at parties like European Beardrop and Under afterparty in Paris, Söho in London, The Market Hotel in Melbourne, and more recently in Devotion party in Barcelona, and other venues in outstanding european cities: Köln, Naples, Lisbon…
Javier Medina has placed himself as a reference deejay in the current scene thanks to a very personal charismatic style. He captivates the dance floors with his specially enigmatic and energetic sessions. After a long experience behind the desks, he’s got a hypnotizing combination to offer to his audience, thanks to the mix of groovy and percussive beats, and darker cadences typical of Tech-house and Progressive.
In between sets, Javier spends his free time with successful immersions in the production world, having two remixes, one for international dj artist Léoméo, and another for well-known austrian-portuguese vocalist Lula, coming out at the end of 2009 on Kult Records (USA). He has also his very first own production coming in the begining of 2010, so stay tuned for future releases.
Currently he is the resident dj for the well-known european party "Devotion" from Barcelona (together with Steven Redant) and collaborates with the denim brand G Star Raw in the same city. And of course, Javier keeps on with his tour in venues around the world, offering vibrating sessions to a crowd that, increasingly nowadays, like that personal touch, in the constant research of a characteristic sound.
